God has done incredible things in and through the people of the Bennington Bible Church. Looking back, we see five distinct seasons of God’s faithfulness.
1.0 - REVIVAL
In 1969 several individuals and families in Bennington were saved and felt a prompting to leave their current church and begin attending home Bible studies. Many also began attending Community Bible Church in Minneapolis. This God-led revival brought new excitement to these families as they grew in their faith together.
2.0 - HOMECOMING
In 1977 there were rumblings of starting something new in Bennington. Those attending Community Bible felt led to begin a new fellowship of believers back at home in Bennington. On May 1, 1981 fifty-two people gathered in Dale & Linda Garst’sbasement to worship. They were led by Pastor Dave Bohyer of the Community Bible Church. God continued to be faithful as He led this group of believers.
3.0 - GROWING UP
The basement was only a temporary meeting place as the church began to grow. On January 1, 1982 the Bennington Bible Church took possession of the previous pool hall downtown and the very next day they met to worship. God was growing them up and continued to be faithful.
4.0 - GOING BIG
With Scripture and a dependence on God at the center, the group once again began to grow and after less than two decades it became clear that a larger location was needed. God provided the location and a new pastor, Todd Burrow. In 2001 a building was erected in the current location. God’s faithfulness was evident and growth continues to happen.
5.0 - UNITY IN VISION
God has blessed our church beyond anything we could have ever imagined. All glory to Him! But He’s not done with us yet! We are entering a new season we are calling 5.0 Unity in Vision. God-led growth continues to happen and we are excited for what He has in store for us.
As we grow, our leadership desires to obey God and keep unity in the body. There is a tendency for a growing body to become disconnected and lose track of who they are. And if Proverbs 29:18 is true, the consequence of not having a vision will lead to our demise.
A vision from God provides a chance for us to rally around one common goal. As Bennington Bible continues living out the Great Commandment and the Great Commission, this vision statement will serve as an anchor to keep us in the center of God’s will for our church.
